Venue Booking : St James’ Park Football Stadium Newcastle St James’ Park Football Stadium Newcastle ================================================================================ admin on 27/01/2012 08:00:00 A modern football stadium with a brand new four star hotel across the road and within walking distance of the main rail station is an enticing combination for the conference organiser – hence my visit to view the facilities in and around St James’ Park the home of Newcastle United Football Club. Whilst in Newcastle I took the opportunity to view some hotels. Football Clubs invariably have massive conference and banqueting suites but the rooms, designed to allow as many people to watch the action on the pitch as possible, are not always the ideal shape from the conference organiser’s point of view. The suites can be long and narrow. The meeting facilities at St James’ Park are extensive – spread over five floors of the main stand. For the large scale event the Bamburgh Suite on Level 4 ‘fits the bill, seating up to 1000 guests for a banquet. It is the largest dining space in Newcastle upon Tyne. It is split into two sections divided by a dance floor. It also has a raised stage. The Platinum Club which can accommodate the same number of guests can be used for pre-dinner receptions. There is also a good selection of smaller meeting rooms on the lower levels – rooms with plenty of natural daylight, and fully equipped technically. They will seat between 100 and 320 delegates theatre style. There is no shortage of syndicate space with boardrooms/smaller rooms on all levels plus single, double and triple boxes. Considering the amount of meeting space, the stadium feels surprisingly compact. You don’t walk miles from one room to another! Access, décor and equipment are first class throughout. Web details are below so you can check individual room dimensions and capacities without me listing them Details: www.nufc.co.uk I thought Newcastle United Football Club had three USPs apart from the above: 1 It is a city centre stadium, a five minute walk at most from Newcastle Central station. 2. The stadium offers complimentary on-site parking for any guest using the conference and banqueting facilities. 3. The stadium has the facilities and capacity to stage a large and complex conference including a car launch in the main suite, with a full catering package, exhibition space and smaller syndicate rooms in support.
