Construction work is expected to start on-site this September on the planned overhaul of London Road Fire Station in Manchester.

London Road Fire Station is a prominent Grade II-listed site just behind Piccadilly Station in the centre of Manchester.

Plans for the site include a 91-bedroom hotel, bars, restaurants and workspace.

A new hotel wing will be created in front of the existing London Road courtyard elevation, with the original façade becoming one side of a corridor connecting the two.

The hotel will be spread over five floors. It will include a world class cocktail bar and a spa.

The former firemen’s flatsin the Fairfield Street wing will be adapted to create apartments and co working space.

The new hotel will be operated by Zetter Hotels.

The Zetter Group currently have three hotels, all in London. The Zetter Hotel at London Road Fire Station will be the group’s first operation outside London.

Further announcements on the future of London Road Fire Station are expected in the coming months.
