National Football Centre, St Georges Park - Burton on Trent
It is thirty years since the concept of a National Football Centre was floated by the FA. The dream has now come true. The National Football Centre is currently under construction at St George’s Park in Burton-on-Trent and opens summer 2012.
St George’s Park will become the home of football development providing an all-inclusive coaching and support environment. The Centre will offer its world-class facilities and services beyond football and facilitate cross-learning between the sporting and business sectors. It will, for example, include conference space for the business and sporting communities. It will also be a national centre for sports medicine and science. Further details await publication.
Two new Hilton hotels are currently under construction on the same site at St. George’s Park – home of the National Football Centre: a Hilton hotel and a Hampton by Hilton hotel. The two hotels will provide accommodation options to suit different budgets. The hotels will cater for individual, group or team bookings as well as local corporate business, conferences and banquets. Not surprisingly the public areas of both hotels will have an FA ‘theme’.
Hilton at St George’s Park: will feature 146 air-conditioned guest rooms including 41 Hilton executive rooms and 14 suites. Three food and beverage outlets will include a fine-dining restaurant, brasserie and separate bar. The LivingWell health club will include a pool, luxury spa and gym. Conference and banqueting facilities will include a main suite to seat 500 delegates for a theatre style meeting or 400 guests for a banquet - plus a selection of smaller meeting and seminar rooms all fully equipped with the latest AV.
Hampton by Hilton at St George’s Park: will feature 86 air-conditioned bedrooms. A complimentary cooked breakfast will be inclusive in the room rate. A 24/7 snack area will offer hot beverages, snacks or light meals. There will be free high-speed internet access.
St George’s Park is located close to the geographic centre of England in the countryside of the National Forest just west of Burton on Trent. Burton and Derby will be the nearest rail stations. The facility will also have good access to the A50 - the M1/M6 link road between Stoke on Trent and Nottingham/Derby. Both hotels will have access to the facilities at St. George’s Park, including a 350 space car park and health club. Both are scheduled to open August 2012.
