Construction work could begin shortly on a £35million plan to redevelop Gateway House on the main approach to Piccadilly Station in Manchester. The building known as the ‘lazy S' because of its shape could become a 270 bedroom hotel over seven floors with a first floor restaurant, bar and meeting facilities.
Phase two and three of the development could see a new ground floor retail development and a three storey leisure complex respectively.
Gateway House was designed in 1964 by Richard Seifert. It was home to the NHS Northwest Health Authority for 42 years until 2010.
