Meliá Hotels International is planning to open a new 208-bedroom Melia Innside hotel in Manchester. The new £25million hotel will be the anchor in a 2.2 acre £80million mixed development - First Street

The First Street development will also include a new home for the Cornerhouse and Library Theatre Company, a second hotel plus small-scale retail units, food and beverage outlets and a multi storey car park. It will be the first Melia Innside Hotel in the UK.

A decision on planning permission for the project is expected in April 2012 and, if approved, construction is scheduled to start in June 2012, with an opening planned for summer 2014.

The First Street North site is located between the Mancunian Way and the railway arches on Whitworth Street West in the centre of Manchester.
