Hull City Council has granted planning approval for a new hotel in the city. It will be located on the site of the former Lexington Avenue nightclub. The site has been left unoccupied for a number of years.

The hotel will be a Hilton Garden Inn property and it is expected to open in 2017. The six-storey building will be on a series of levels with the highest part to the front overlooking Ferensway in central Hull.

The new hotel will have 167 bedrooms as well as a restaurant and bar, leisure facilities and conference and events space.

The new Hilton Garden Inn Hull will provide accommodation for the large increase in visitor numbers the city is expecting when it becomes the ‘City of Culture 2017’.

Swinton Park, the luxury 30-bedroom castle hotel and cookery school in the Yorkshire Dales is seeking planning approval to introduce spa facilities and enhance the dining options at the Grade II-listed venue.
The new spa would include a swimming pool, gym and studio space, treatment rooms and a beauty salon.

A new restaurant  with a bar, private dining facilities and an outside terrace is planned and this would complement ‘Samuels’, Swinton Park’s  three AA rosette restaurant where menus are inspired by the fruit, vegetables and herbs grown in what is the largest hotel kitchen garden in the UK.

A 700 sq. ft. retail unit is also included in the plans which would sell both local and estate produce and allow public access to the gardens.

Swinton Park is a country estate centred on Swinton Castle and set in 200 acres of parkland in the Yorkshire Dales. It is located approximately eight miles north west of Ripon within the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
