The Low Wood Bay hotel in the Lake District has temporarily closed in order to undergo a £16million redevelopment.

The development will see the complete renovation of the existing property including the upgrading of all existing bedrooms. A number of new rooms and suites are being added, many with views of Lake Windermere.

The development will also include the new ‘Bluesmoke’ Restaurant.

Low Wood Bay already has extensive indoor and outdoor leisure facilities including the usual indoor swimming pool and gym but also motor boats, kayaks, paddle boards, sailing boats and waterskiing on Lake Windermere.

A new outside leisure space will include an infinity pool, sauna and Canadian hot tubs all with views across the lake towards the Langdale Pikes.

The first phase of the new-look Low Wood Bay is expected to open in April 2017.

Low Wood Bay currently has 111 well-furnished and equipped bedrooms with free wi-fi throughout. There are nine meeting and events rooms with the largest seating up to 340 delegates.

Low Wood Bay is four miles from Windermere Village and station (with good connections to the mainline West Coast trains to London, the Midlands and Scotland). It is around 20 miles from the M6 at junction 36.
