Construction work is expected to start on-site this September on the planned overhaul of London Road Fire Station in Manchester. 

London Road Fire Station is a prominent Grade II-listed site just behind Piccadilly Station in the centre of Manchester.

Plans for the site include a 91-bedroom hotel, bars, restaurants and workspace.

A new hotel wing will be created in front of the existing London Road courtyard elevation, with the original façade becoming one side of a corridor connecting the two.

The hotel will be spread over five floors. It will include a world class cocktail bar and a spa.

The former firemen’s flatsin the Fairfield Street wing will be adapted to create apartments and co working space.

The new hotel will be operated by Zetter Hotels.

The Zetter Group currently have three hotels, all in London. The Zetter Hotel at London Road Fire Station will be the group’s first operation outside London.

Further announcements on the future of London Road Fire Station are expected in the coming months.

 


Travelodge has just opened its flagship Travelodge PLUS hotel - Travelodge London City.  

Travelodge London City features new standard SuperRooms and a new concept Bar Café.

Travelodge London Cityhas 395 bedrooms in total. These include:

253 ‘budget chic’ Travelodge Plus rooms featuring a contemporary décor, a signature king size Travelodge Dreamer bed, blackout curtains, a Freeview TV, desk and bedside USB charging points and modern en-suite bathroom.

142 SuperRooms which feature a power shower, in-room Lavazza coffee pod machines, an iron and ironing board, a larger desk and USB power points throughout.

Travelodge London Cityis located in Middlesex Street. It is close to Liverpool Street station and within walking distance of the Tower of London, London Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Shard.

A new hotel is set to be created in the centre of Middlesbrough.  

Plans have been submitted to extend and transform Vancouver House, a commercial building in the centre of Middlesbrough, into a mixed-use scheme which will include a hotel.

A new four-storey extension is planned alongside the existing building. This will include a 104-bedroom hotel, banqueting and events facilities, a restaurant/café plus 71 apartments.

A final decision on the scheme is expected very shortly from Middlesbrough City Council's planning committee.


After more than two years of renovation, University Arms Cambridge reopens on 1stAugust 2018.

 University Arms Cambridge has undergone a major refurbishment at a cost of around £80 million.

University Arms Cambridge comprises 192 new hotel bedrooms and suites, a destination restaurant and bar, a library, an underground valet car park and fitness facilities.

The meetings and events facilities include the main Ballroom which will seat up to 180 delegates and which will subdivide into two smaller rooms: The Crick Room seating up to 96 delegates and the Watson Room seating up to 70 guests.

University Arms Cambridge overlooks Parker’s Piece in the heart of Cambridge, a short walk from Cambridge station and under an hour from central London.

Bespoke Hotels will operate the new hotel set to open at the former Coventry Telegraph offices in the centre of Coventry.    

Refurbishment and conversion of the building into a 100-bedroom boutique hotel is expected to start at the end of this year.

The new hotel will retain the original features of the former newspaper offices, including its panelled boardroom and newspaper’s owner Lord Iliffe’s apartment.

The new hotel will also feature a ground floor restaurant and bar, meeting and events space and a rooftop bar.

The new hotel is scheduled to open ahead of Coventry being named UK City of Culture in 2021.
